About the role
As a key member of our team, you will ensure the structural integrity and safety of the DBFO Network. Your role involves routine inspections and maintenance of bridges and small structures, working in collaboration with internal teams and external partners throughout the network.
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a General Operative (Structures) as part of the Connect Plus Services (CPS) team based at Leatherhead.
What you’ll be doing
- Routine inspections of small structures throughout the network
- Routine maintenance of any inspected structures that do not require routine planning use of small plant machinery which you will be trained in
- Responsible for soft estate maintenance including strimming and hedge cutting.
- You are also required to work at heights for some routine inspections.
- Data capture and input into our internal systems
- Work towards a planned activity schedule and be accountable to ensure that this is kept on track.
- Diligent recordkeeping on any work attended and allocated.
Working arrangements:
Our teams work a variety of shifts, and this role will require you to work a mixture of day and night shifts to meet the needs of the project. Flexibility is required but we will ensure that you are supported and receive any time off needed to manage fatigue.
Who we’re looking for
- Technical Proficiency: Utilise advanced IT skills to manage and update systems, ensuring accuracy and reliability in digital operations.
- Professional Integrity: Uphold a strong work ethic, consistently delivering quality work and demonstrating commitment to the teams objectives.
- Certification: Must be a holder of a valid CSCS Card.
- Small Works Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in managing and executing small-scale projects.
- Working at Heights: Familiarity with MEWPS and the use of gantry access ladders, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Schedule Flexibility: Adapt to flexible working hours, including the availability for night shifts, to meet the evolving needs of the project.
- Equipment Operation: Skilfully operate small plant machinery, contributing to the teams operational efficiency while adhering to safety standards
