Happy New Year
A message from Angus Murray, CEO, Connect Plus and Louise Haining, Managing Director, Connect Plus Services.
As 2024 comes to a close, we find ourselves celebrating and reflecting on the past year. We have been inspired by the dedication and innovation from across the community in maintaining and enhancing the crucial M25 network; Europe’s busiest and the UK’s most strategically important motorway.
We’d like to highlight our focus on safety and wellbeing throughout the year across Connect Plus and CPS. Safety is at the heart of everything we do and remains our top priority. We thank our teams for their active involvement and support in our Making Safety Personal and National Road Safety Week campaigns, as well as calling out the great work our team of Mental Health First Aiders has done this year to help us all feel supported through personal and professional challenges.
We have continued our effort to foster an inclusive working environment. We understand and thrive on the individuality, experiences, perspectives and background that our team bring to the business. Our ED&I network have been dedicated to fostering this diversity and organised various initiatives throughout the year, as well as activating a jam packed schedule of learning opportunities during National Inclusion Week.
We would also like to celebrate our award wins and industry-leading recognition, a true testament to our teams’ hard work and dedication. These awards include Highways UK Excellence Awards, Intelligent Transport Systems Awards and British Construction Industry Awards for our innovative work in partnership with Alchera to extend working windows on the M25s well as two successes for members of our team in the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards (WICE) and Commendation at the Highways Awards for the M25 J3 Swanley Interchange CFRP Bridge Strengthening project in trailblazing a new innovative method of strengthening concrete structures whilst keeping traffic flowing.
Collaboration has been essential and there have been many successes across the One Community. Thanks to this approach we can highlight the power of working ‘Better Together’ in delivering complex and challenging projects to time and quality.
As we look to 2025, our focus will remain firmly on Health, Safety and Wellbeing, ensuring these values continue to be at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to delivering our operations, maintenance and renewals schedules, while continuing to optimise road space and lead environmental sustainability. All of this will be supported by our relentless drive for innovation.
As we thank all our colleagues, supply chain partners and customers for their collaboration and successes’ this year, we wish everyone a wonderful break and look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead in 2025.
We also send a special thank you to all of our colleagues who are working during this time to ensure that millions of customers can continue their journeys safely.
Best Wishes
