Angus Murray announced as New Connect Plus CEO

Connect Plus is pleased to announce the appointment of Angus Murray as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Angus officially assumed his new role and joined the Board on 1 July 2024.

Angus brings a wealth of experience to Connect Plus, following a distinguished 25-year career with Fluor Corporation. His most recent role was Vice President (VP) Operations Advanced Technologies and Life Sciences (AT&LS) EAME, alongside serving as a Board member for Fluor Ltd in the United Kingdom and Fluor BV in the Netherlands.

 

His time at Fluor was marked by his leadership on major, complex projects across the United Kingdom and the United States, his management of Fluor’s offices in the Philippines, and his oversight of Quality and Continuous Improvement on a global scale. He began his career as an engineer with Tarmac.

 

Educated at Durham University, Angus holds a BSc (Hons) in Engineering Science, and an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management.

Outgoing CEO, Andy Dean, who will conclude his tenure on the 30 August to return to Balfour Beatty Investments, said: “The M25 is an extraordinary project, and I am immensely proud to have contributed to its operation over the past seven years. Throughout this time there have been numerous successes across a range of projects. It has been a privilege to lead such a talented goup of people and to be at the helm of Europe’s busiest motorway. I look forward to witnessing its continued development and success under Angus's leadership.”

Connect Plus has a 30-year contract with National Highways to operate and manage the M25 and its key arterial link roads, including the Dartford-Thurrock River Crossing. It continues to be National Highways’ flagship public finance initiative (PFI) and is the largest highways PFI project ever awarded in the UK.

The M25 is one of the busiest motorways in Europe. It plays a pivotal role as the hub of National Highways' strategic road network in the southeast, supporting journeys in and around London, and connecting customers with other parts of the UK and Europe. It is used by over 200,000 vehicles a day and links people and freight through two major container seaports and five international airports. Many of the UK’s largest companies rely on the M25 to transport goods and services across the UK and beyond
